Creating the Clean Energy Workforce
Tuesday, October 29, 2019 | 10:00 AM
The Committee on Small Business Subcommittee on Innovation and Workforce Development will hold a hearing titled, “Creating the Clean Energy Workforce.” The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 in Room 2360 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The clean energy workforce has skyrocketed to over 4 million jobs due to dropping technology costs, more demand for clean and efficient energy technology, and supportive policies and investment at the local and state levels. With solar and wind increasing by 24.5% and 16 percent respectively from 2016 to 2017, solar and wind jobs are now outnumbering coal and gas jobs in 30 states and the District of Columbia. Further, energy efficiency jobs make up most of the clean energy workforce, supporting at least 2.2 million jobs across the country. As the country continues to develop and utilize this workforce, it is critical the voices of small businesses are heard as they employ many of these workers and need a steady pipeline of skilled workers. The hearing will delve into the various facets of the renewable energy workforce and the needs of small employers.
