Velázquez Comments on Democratic Leadership Change on Senate Committee
Washington, DC,
February 7, 2018
Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY), the top Democrat on the House Small Business Committee, commented today on news that Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) would be leaving her post as Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship and would be replaced by Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD): “I thank Senator Shaheen for her work and contributions during her tenure as Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee. She’s been a strong partner as we’ve worked to develop and pass bipartisan, bicameral legislation that fosters entrepreneurship and helps our nation’s small firms succeed. Most recently, she was instrumental in helping craft the ‘Small Business 7(a) Lending Oversight and Reform Act,’ bipartisan legislation that, once enacted, will help more entrepreneurs unlock the capital they need to grow, prosper and create jobs. “While Senator Shaheen will be missed, I am pleased to welcome Senator Cardin as the incoming Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee. I look forward to working with him in coming weeks in advancing our shared goal of helping small businesses to succeed.” ### |
