Chairwoman Velázquez on Decline in Small Business Optimism

Washington, D.C.— Today, House Small Business Committee Chairwoman Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) issued the following statement in response to a new survey showing a decrease in optimism among small business owners:

“Today’s drop in small business confidence is the latest in a series of alarm bells that small business owners are ringing since this Administration’s policies have largely made them an afterthought. From imposing erratic tariffs to enacting a tax scam full of empty promises, the President’s words and actions are reflected in today’s report, which shows small business owners are increasingly seeing their economic prospects in decline.

“We need policies that enhance—not scale back, opportunities for America’s tens of millions of small businesses. As Chairwoman, I’m working to promote policies that will encourage economic prosperity on Main Street—not merely pay lip service.”
