Velázquez, Chabot Introduce Resolution Recognizing National Small Business Week

Washington, D.C.—House Small Business Committee Chairwoman Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) and Ranking Member Steve Chabot (R-OH) have introduced a resolution to designate next week, May 5-11, 2019 as National Small Business Week. Every year since 1963, the President has recognized a week to celebrate the contributions of small businesses and entrepreneurs across the country.

“Each year, our nation comes together to honor and celebrate America’s 30 million small businesses,” said Chairwoman Velázquez. “From the family-owned grocery store back home in Brooklyn to the entrepreneurs preparing to launch their tech start up in the heartland, our small businesses are as diverse as our nation. In Congress, I am proud to fight on their behalf and champion their success. With this resolution, I join Ranking Member Chabot in enshrining National Small Business Week into the Congressional Record, and I look forward to an upcoming productive and inspiring week.”

“Next week, we will celebrate National Small Business Week,” said Ranking Member Chabot. “The time of year we celebrate the American Industrialist. I want them to know just how important they are and continue to highlight the contributions they make to their communities and to the nation.  With this resolution, I stand with my colleagues in Congress, and the leadership of the Small Business Administration, to congratulate them in their success, acknowledge their effort, and encourage them to continue their passion.”

In honor of the upcoming week, the Committee will be holding a hearing inviting each Committee Member to bring a small business from his or her Congressional district to testify on their small business story. More information can be found here
