Chairwoman Velázquez on September Jobs Report

Washington, D.C.— Today, House Small Business Committee Chairwoman Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) issued the following statement after the Labor Department released its September jobs statement:

“Sadly, today’s jobs report confirms recent warnings that our economy is cooling. As President Trump feuds with our global trading partners, America’s small businesses and consumers continue to feel the sting of economic uncertainty and the burden of paying higher prices for basic goods. The President’s trade war has taken aim at America’s small businesses, causing disrupted supply chains and a plummeting demand for American made goods.

“While the President’s tax cuts generated a hefty return for the wealthiest corporations, small businesses and hard-working families are failing to see the benefits of this Administration’s economic policy.”
