Chairwoman Velázquez Announces Coronavirus Hearing

Washington, D.C.—On March 10th at 11:30 A.M., the House Committee on Small Business will hold a hearing on the impact of the coronavirus on American small businesses and the economy.

“Not only has coronavirus caused thousands of tragic deaths around the globe, this public health crisis also threatens the fabric of our economy, which is woven together by small businesses,” said Chairwoman Velázquez. “For many American small businesses, the outbreak of coronavirus means fewer customers, gaps in supply chains, and workforce reductions. In our upcoming hearing, we will give small business owners and experts on public health and the economy an opportunity to share their experiences and concerns with Congress. In dealing with the ongoing challenges presented by the outbreak, the federal government cannot afford to get this wrong.”

More information about the hearing is available here.

Additionally, Chairwoman Velázquez has introduced legislation to open critical economic injury loans to small businesses dealing with the consequences of the coronavirus outbreak.
