Chairwoman Velázquez on Take Responsibility for Workers and Families Act
Washington,
March 24, 2020
Washington, D.C.—House Small Business Committee Chairwoman Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) released the following statement in response to the House introduction of a comprehensive coronavirus emergency response bill, the Take Responsibility for Workers and Families Act: “For the millions of American small businesses and their employees suffering from the consequences of the coronavirus, House Democrats have unveiled sweeping legislation that prioritizes the health and financial wellbeing of workers, taxpayers, and families, above corporate profits. “This bold set of reforms includes many of the small business priorities I have been advocating for during this crisis, including economic injury grants, small business debt relief, and greater access and flexibility to flagship SBA loan programs. “During these hard times, no family or worker should have to worry that the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic will sink them into debt or financial turmoil. Congress has a responsibility to act swiftly and boldly.” A summary of the small business provisions is online here. The bill text is available here.
