Washington, D.C.— Today, Chairwoman Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) announced the addition of Rep. Kweisi Mfume (D-MD) to the Committee’s roster of members. The appointment marks a return to the Committee for Rep. Mfume, who previously sat on the Committee during his prior tenure in Congress and served as the Chair of the then Subcommittee on Minority Enterprise, Finance, and Urban Development. “It is my honor to welcome Congressman Mfume back to the Small Business Committee,” said Chairwoman Velázquez. “His extensive experience as a legislator and advocate for entrepreneurs will make him a valuable addition to the Committee, especially as we work to guide small businesses to recover from this devastating crisis. Now more than ever, small businesses need allies in Washington that have their back, I’m confident that Congressman Mfume will do just that.” Velázquez also announced Rep. Marc Veasey’s (D-TX) resignation from the Committee. “I want to thank Congressman Veasey for his tireless work on behalf of America’s small businesses,” said Chairwoman Velázquez. “As a member of the Committee, he led efforts to modify size standards for small businesses and help small contractors. His presence on the Committee will be sorely missed, but I look forward to working with him in the future to help our nation’s entrepreneurs.” ### |
