Velázquez Leads Members in Recognizing National Small Business Week

Washington, D.C.— Today, House Small Business Committee Chairwoman Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) led 58 Members of Congress in introducing a resolution to recognize September 13th through September 17th as National Small Business Week. The United States has celebrated small business week annually since 1963 to commemorate the contributions of small business owners and their more than 60 million employees.

“This week, we recognize National Small Business Week as we have for over 50 years, but we also celebrate the incredible progress small firms have made on the road to recovery from the pandemic in 2021,” said Chairwoman Velázquez. “Small businesses have shown incredible resolve in the face of unprecedented challenges over the past 18 months. Small firms have been there to support their communities every step of the way through the pandemic. Their resiliency has served as an inspiration for the rest of the nation as we work to overcome this virus. I’m proud to join my colleagues on the Small Business Committee and fellow Members of Congress in acknowledging the achievements of American small businesses and the impact that they have every day.”
