Ranking Member Velázquez Statement on February Jobs Report

WASHINGTON– Today, Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY), Ranking Member of the House Small Business Committee, issued the following statement after the Labor Department released its February jobs report:

“The February jobs report flashes warning signs for the Trump economy. Job growth slowed more than expected, showing the economic uncertainty caused by the administration’s reckless trade policies and attacks on the federal workforce.

“Trump’s tariffs are driving up costs for consumers, while his erratic decision-making is creating instability for small and large businesses alike. Instead of supporting working families, his administration continues to push policies that benefit the wealthy while making it harder for entrepreneurs and workers to get ahead.

“Democrats remain committed to building a strong, stable economy that prioritizes small businesses, workers, and middle-class families. We will continue pushing for policies that lower costs and ensure long-term economic security for all Americans.”
