In response to the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) announcement to hire a Procurement Analyst in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Ranking Member Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) released the following statement: 

            “I commend SBA for the decision to recruit a full-time procurement analyst in San Juan, serving the capacity of Procurement Center Representative and am glad they are requiring the person filling the role to be bilingual. I have previously called for such a position, and having a designated officer on the ground to assist local small businesses is a positive step for the Island. Facing ongoing recovery efforts after the most devastating hurricane in a century, this position will help local small businesses compete for and secure contracts, fueling job growth and rebuilding local economies. The Committee will continue to provide oversight to ensure that this role is being carried out effectively and to the benefit of Puerto Rico’s local businesses.”
