Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY), the top Democrat on the House Small Business Committee, released the following statement regarding news that the President is disbanding two of his Economic Councils: 

            “American entrepreneurs understand that our diversity is our strength and that the President’s statements regarding Charlottesville are an affront to our national values.  It therefore makes perfect sense that many business leaders refuse to stand by the President when he makes these incendiary and unconscionable remarks.  

            “Unfortunately, the President’s irresponsible and immoral comments will now result in the Administration being deprived of valuable private sector knowledge and advice.  Not only has Donald Trump debased the office of the President, but his actions will now likely have tangible, negative economic effects. We should be absolutely clear – there is no one to blame for this unfortunate outcome other than the President himself.”
