Washington, D.C.— Today, Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY), Ranking Member of the House Small Business Committee, issued the following statement after the Labor Department released its November jobs report showing that nonfarm payroll employment increased by 199,000:
“Today’s jobs report marked the 34th straight month of jobs growth under President Biden. With the jobs added in November, our economy has gained over 14 million jobs since the President took office. Most of these jobs have been created by small firms over the past two and a half years – growing the economy from the bottom up and the middle out. Unemployment remains near historic lows, and economic indicators show that we are making real and meaningful progress in our fight against inflation.
“Under President Biden, the U.S. has experienced better growth and lower inflation than most advanced countries. Congress should do all it can to build on these achievements and continue moving our economy forward. Unfortunately, Republicans have focused their energy on pursuing tax cuts for billionaires and cutting vital government programs. Meanwhile, Democrats are working to put people over politics by creating more good paying jobs and delivering for working families.”
